Bringing together womens health service users & healthcare professionals across the UK, 4,298 questions were narrowed down to a top 10 list of research priorities: 1 Find the most effective current and emerging treatments for gynaecological and breast cancers, including targeted molecular and hormonal therapies, and whether treatment can be personalised to maximise benefit and avoid unnecessary toxicity 2 Investigate why drug trials and clinical studies are still not adequately applied to account for physiological differences between sexes and what the consequences are for treatment in women's health 3 Find the most effective current and emerging treatments for endometriosis, including ways to prevent progression or recurrence, and whether developing a cure is possible 4 Explore the reasons for widespread dissatisfaction with obstetric and gynaecological care, and the possible actions professional bodies could take to address these 5 Investigate how the diagnosis of endometriosis can be improved, including the development of non-invasive screening tools 6 Investigate how the diagnosis, management, and prevention of the cognitive effects of perimenopause and menopause can be achieved and how does menopause cause these cognitive problems 7 Investigate the long-term effects of giving birth and how long-term postnatal health, such as pelvic pain, incontinence, and sexual dysfunction, can be improved 8 Explore the underlying causes, effective treatments, and preventive measures for maternal mental health conditions such as postpartum depression and anxiety, which are common but often underdiagnosed and undertreated 9 Investigate how hormonal cycles affect drug metabolism, and how this should be integrated into the design and interpretation of drug trials 10 Explore the bidirectional relationship between menstrual cycle hormonal fluctuations and mental health across the reproductive lifespan, including effects on premenstrual syndrome, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, and menopause Women make up 51% of the UK population, yet womens health remains under-researched
